Director of Industrial and Tactical Medicine

Traci Tauferner, LAT, ATC, CSCS, PES, MCTP

Traci Tauferner is the Director of Industrial & Tactical Medicine at Advanced Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine. Traci collaborates with tactical communities, industry, and municipalities to design and implement preventative and reactive care for employees.

As a 20-year educator and service innovator, she is an advocate for proactive approaches to maintain workforce health and safety. 

Recognized internationally by the tactical community for her work with law enforcement, paramedics, and firefighters, especially in Fit-for-Duty Testing.

Traci is a veteran of the Wisconsin National Guard and recipient of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award, an elite award for non-commissioned officers whose leadership and performance merit special recognition.

She is a Licensed Athletic Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist, and Modern Cupping Therapy Practitioner. She is certified in Mental Health First Aid, Peer Support, Crisis Intervention, Trauma Informed Weight Lifting, Yoga 500 hours, Job Analysis, Industrial/Officer Ergonomics, Functional Movement Systems, and various manual therapies.

Heidi Bohl, LAT, ATC

Heidi graduated from UW-Oshkosh with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. She worked for several years doing event coverage before entering the industrial athletic training scene. Before full-time athletic training, she spent nearly a decade in nonprofit health, wellness, and fitness.

Heidi is passionate about empowering others to improve their health in multiple areas such as injury prevention, rehabilitation, nutrition, and total body strength to build a solid, healthy lifestyle.

In her spare time, Heidi enjoys exercising (and encouraging others to exercise), hiking and being outdoors, and spending time with her husband, three kids, and their family dog.


Sally Egan, LAT, ATC, CSCS

Sally graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a minor in Strength & Conditioning.  This was followed by two years as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer at Eastern Michigan University.  She spent the next eleven years working as a high school Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach.  In addition to being a NATA Licensed Athletic Trainer, she is also an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach and FMS certified.

Sally believes that people of all ages and physical abilities can benefit from being physically active. 

She enjoys working with all ages and has a special interest in injury prevention and nutrition.

Sally grew up on a small dairy farm in Wisconsin and participated in several activities growing up including baseball, cross country, track, and weightlifting. 


Sean Gough, LAT, ATC

Sean graduated from Bethel University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. In 2020, he earned a master's degree in Applied Exercise Science with a focus in Human Movement Science from Concordia University Chicago. Currently, Sean is working towards his Doctorate in Athletic Training, with an anticipated graduation of December 2025. He has worked with a diverse range of clients in multiple settings (high school, collegiate, industrial), and these experiences have shaped his philosophy of care, one which emphasizes the participation of the individual in their own plan of action. By supplying the right tools, Sean gets his patients back to what they need to be doing with confidence. His professional interests include the shoulder, a subject on which he has presented at the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association, as well as patellofemoral pain, lower limb tendinopathy and low back pain.

In his free time, Sean enjoys spending time with his family and cats, working out, and playing video games. He has a passion for esports and gaming-related injuries and was a semi-professional player.


Joe Hanel, LAT, ATC

Joe joined APTSM in 2016 as an Industrial Athletic Trainer and also helps with athletic event coverage.

Joe grew up in Colorado with a passion for sports and the outdoors, he graduated from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs with a BS in Human Biology in 2009. He currently lives in Greenville, WI and completed a second BS degree at UW Oshkosh in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training and is a Licensed Athletic Trainer. Joe’s passion for helping others and desire to learn about the human body fuels his interest in sports medicine.

In his spare time he enjoys exercising, getting outdoors, rooting for his Wisconsin and Colorado sports teams and spending time with his Wife Jen, step- daughter Madalyn and twin sons Jax and Knox.


Lynsey Hansen, LAT, ATC

Lynsey graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelor's in Athletic Training and a Minor in Sports Nutrition. She worked with Division II athletes and semi-pro soccer in Missouri, served as an outreach high school athletic trainer in western WI, and oversaw group exercise, personal training, wellness, nutrition, and chronic disease programming in her role as a non-profit Healthy Living Director before transitioning to the industrial setting. Lynsey is passionate about using a holistic approach to patient care, teaching ways to prevent injury by focusing on form and function, as well as utilizing nutrition and working to combat any mental barriers to reach goals. 

Growing up, Lynsey was involved in many sports, including cheerleading, gymnastics, dance, basketball and track. The love of various forms of exercise has carried over into her adult life; in her spare time, you’ll find her trying new forms of exercise and being active outdoors.


Anna Linstedt, LAT, ATC

Anna graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with emphasis in Athletic Training.

Anna has served on the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers’ Association board of directors as President, Northeast Regional Representative and Awards and Scholarship Committee Coordinator.

Before entering the industrial setting, Anna worked in the high school outreach setting for 20+ years, the last 14 at Menasha High School. She is excited to bring her skills and knowledge to industrial locations where she can help promote health and wellness, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Outside of work, Anna enjoys spending time with her husband and three children who are involved in many activities.


Megan Magelitz, PTA

Megan earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (major) and Business Administration (minor) from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and an Associate of Applied Science Degree from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). She has experience in private/hospital outpatient orthopedic, inpatient skilled nursing facility, and industrial rehab settings.  

She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing/exercising with her dog, camping, hiking, traveling, cooking (and eating!), and working out (dancing, kickboxing, lifting weights, and stair climbing).

Chad Meyer, COTA

Chad is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) who graduated from Fox Valley Technical College in 2013. 

He primarily works out in industry providing services such as Job Analysis, new hire services including job function testing, hearing test, pulmonary function test, and drug testing. 

Chad also has experience with working in the clinic setting, providing services such as physical rehab for the upper extremities.  With his multiple years of experience in onsite services for many industrial companies, he is able to provide services with knowledge and accuracy.   

Away from work, Chad enjoys spending time with his family and friends, including his wife and three kids.   He also enjoys sports such as football, baseball, and basketball, and the outdoors. 


Cali Peterleus, PTA

After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and her Physical Therapist Assistant-Associate Degree, Cali trained and worked extensively at skilled nursing facilities across the state, with an emphasis on fall prevention, stroke rehabilitation, joint replacement recovery and wellness in acute, long term, outpatient and home health settings.

Cali is eager to apply all of the knowledge she learned in these setting to the industrial setting.

Cali is passionate about the fire service, volunteering as a camp counselor at Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth and serving as a volunteer EMT/firefighter.

When she’s not at work, Cali enjoys the great outdoors and can be found kayaking, hunting, hiking and fishing at every available opportunity.


Mary Smet, COTA

Mary Graduated from Fox Valley Technical College with an Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy.  After Graduation Mary went to work in a hospital in Spokane Washington. 

Once gaining a good foundation of skills in Physical Rehabilitation Mary decided to work as a traveling therapist for a few years in hospital outpatient, Rehab Centers, Skilled Nursing Facilities and Home Health. 

She was able to travel to Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin and finally ending up in California, where she worked as a therapist, a rehab manager and co-owned and operated a housing business with her husband. 

Mary and her husband relocated back to Wisconsin in 2014. 

In Wisconsin before joining Advanced Physical Therapy Mary worked as a Therapy Manager in Skilled Nursing Facilities & as an Industrial Therapist.

Mary enjoys traveling, gardening, baking and spending time with her friends, family and two small dogs.


Courtney Wagner, LAT, ATC

Courtney graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2015. Since graduating, she spent 4 years working with NCAA DIII athletes and has also collected experience within high school athletics, occupational health, and onsite industrial services. Courtney strives to combine her previous industrial employment with injury prevention experience, to optimize the health and wellbeing of industrial athletes. 

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, hiking, traveling, brewery tours, playing volleyball, softball, and golf. 


Alyssa Verne, COTA

A graduate of Bryant and Stratton College, Alyssa is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. After earning her associate degree, Alyssa spent her time administering holistic patient-centered rehabilitation services to a wide variety of clients in a skilled nursing facility. She has experience in home/environment modification, physical rehabilitation of the upper extremities, and kinesiology taping. As a member of the industrial rehabilitation team, Alyssa provides services that include Job Analysis and POPE testing, as well as leading work conditioning classes.

Alyssa specializes in general orthopedics and sports medicine, enjoys treating the upper extremity, provides POPE testing, job analysis, and work conditioning and is trained in Kinesio taping philosophy.

Outside of work Alyssa can be found throwing on her local disc golf courses with her dog. She is also incredibly passionate about cooking and loves to be in the kitchen creating for her family and friends. 


Marcus Werner, PT

Marcus Werner is a board-certified Physical therapist and Athletic Trainer with diverse experience in many different settings. He graduated with Honors from Marquette University with his Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training and Doctor of Physical Therapy.

He then participated in an APTA accredited Orthopedic Residency Program and became a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Since then, he became certified in trigger point dry needling and has taken numerous additional continuing education courses to better serve his patients.

Marcus believes in a holistic and proactive treatment approach that helps each individual achieve their highest potential and gets them back to the things they enjoy.

In his free time, Marcus enjoys trail running, functional fitness and exploring the great outdoors with friends and family.
