Our Process

Ergonomic Injury prevention starts at the job site.

Job Site Analysis

Measuring the physical demands (lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, gripping, reaching, bending, etc) of the work is an essential part of any injury prevention program, ergonomics coaching, work conditioning/work hardening program, and many other ergonomic safety initiatives.

Performing a Job Site Analysis identifies and addresses unique stressors before they become problematic.

Job Function Matching & Testing

The job site analysis is used to develop a physical demands test. This test can assist with:

1. Hiring the right person for the job (Pre-Offer Testing/Post-Offer Pre-employment testing, Job matching).

2. Identifying new hires who may need a training program to handle the work.

3. Ensure workers are ready to return to work after an injury (Fit for Duty testing).

*Company policy must be in place for compliant job matching and testing programs.

The journey from functional job analysis to functional job description to functional job test is helpful to identify unique stressors, help with hiring and placement decisions and testing employees. It also allows for ADA and EEOC compliance.

Additional Considerations:

  • Re-certification every 2 years or immediately as the job/environment changes

  • All documents are validated, especially tests, to ensure accuracy and compliance

  • All testing is performed by licensed medical professionals certified in DSI’s Job Function Matching System.
