The University of Wisconsin Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program

Since 2010, Advanced Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine has been in partnership with UW-Hospital and Clinics/Meriter Hospital Orthopedic Clinical Residency Program. The residency is a year-long program during which a physical therapist works at our Appleton North location seeing patient's part time, while also completing various didactic units in conjunction with the UW-Madison Physical Therapy program aimed at furthering the therapists knowledge and manual skill set. Upon completion of the residency, the therapist is then eligible to take the board exam to become an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS).

While in clinic, the resident spends time under direct mentorship of existing OCS physical therapists whom aid in shaping clinical knowledge and helping the resident grow as a therapist. APTSM remains committed to advancing the physical therapy profession while providing outstanding care to our patients, and this is no exception. The residency provides an opportunity for our therapists to remain on the cutting edge in our knowledge base, while helping to produce physical therapists that excel professionally.
