Phil is a graduate of Physical Therapy from The University of Michigan (Flint,1987) and has completed extensive post-graduate education in upper and lower extremity evaluation/treatment, core training progressions, gait-running analysis, and manual spine treatment.
He has completed post graduate training and certification for Trigger Point Dry Needling through Kineticore. Functional Movement Screen certified and Selective Functional Movement Assessment trained through Functional Movement Systems.
Phil has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS through The National Strength and Conditioning Association.) since 2001 to improve athletic performance and transition people of all abilities from rehab back to sport or life. Certified as a Pilates Instructor through Polestar Education with an emphasis in rehabilitation in 2002.
He is an active member of both the American and Wisconsin Physical Therapy Associations and the Performing Arts Special Interest Group and the Orthopedic Section of the APTA. He works with traveling performers at the Performing Art Center (Appleton). The last 6 years he has worked with the Lawrence University Music Conservatory screening and treating musicians on and off-site.
In addition to spending time with his wife, two daughters and son, he also enjoys being involved with training & coaching youth, any outdoor sports- especially fly fishing, hunting, canoe-kayaking, and x-country skiing. Phil sees patients in the Appleton East clinic.
