At APTSM, we are proud to possess a strong relationship with Orthopedic Sports Institute of the Fox Valley to provide Athletic Training coverage for many local high and junior-high schools, including the Appleton Area School District.  Our Sports Medicine coverage expands to many other entities as well, including Hortonville and St Mary Central High School, local club rugby teams, and many 5k fun-running events.

Here's a look at our Sports Medicine Staff, comprised of Licensed Athletic Trainers.

Joshua J. Sanders, MS, LAT

Appleton West High School LAT

Joshua joined us in 2011 while concurrently completing his Masters in Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with an emphasis in Biomechanics and Human Motor Control. Prior to graduate work, he received his undergraduate degree from UW-La Crosse in 2009. At La Crosse, in addition to receiving his Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training, he received his minor in German and was able to network with faculty and staff from Johann Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main.  He has many ties to the Fox Valley, graduating from Xavier High School in 2005, where he was a member of a 2-time winning State Championship soccer team.  Coincidentally, his passion for Athletic Training resulted from time spent away from soccer with a concussion.

He enjoys the clinical side of sports medicine, and also is a technological enthusiast.  In his spare time, he likes to spend time exercising, traveling following international soccer, making new friends and colleagues, and spending time with his wife Melissa and Welsh Terrier, Pongo. He is the Licensed Athletic Trainer at Appleton West High School.
